Preparing Your Four-Wheeled Pet for Winter

Autumn has already made its appearance this year and is passing like water. So, we must not forget to do the necessary work, inspections, and replacements on our cars as well. Winter is definitely a time when cars take a beating, with salt buildup, snow, frost, and more. All of these can negatively affect the appearance, functionality, and safety of the car.

So what should we not forget before winter?
Ø Comply with legal obligations – the law states that summer tires must be replaced with winter tires between November 1 and March 31, especially if there is a continuous layer of snow, ice, or frost on the road, or if the current weather forecast suggests that you are about to make a trip. Whether you think you are the best driver or that this winter will not be so severe, this is not to be underestimated. Ø Summer tires and winter tires differ greatly, not only in tread depth, but also in materials suitable for the temperatures of the time of year.
Ø Critical Replacement – There are other things besides tires that need to be replaced to handle the low winter temperatures.
Ø Checking technical condition – It is also important to check important parts of the car, such as the condition of the battery, which is greatly affected by the cold and loses capacity. If you feel that your car is no longer running as it should, you may want to consider recharging the battery or purchasing a new one. In this regard, it is also advisable to have a starter cable ready for the winter. Spark plugs are also worth checking and possibly replacing.

Ø Equipment supplement – It is recommended to have various types of ice shavings, cover sheets and at least a film for the windshield for the winter. It is also a good idea to carry a glass or key defroster. A broom, or broom and snow shovel, can also come in handy in the event of a sudden heavy snowfall. Don\’t forget snow chains of the proper dimensions.
If you are unsure about anything, it is a good idea to have your car inspected by a mechanic before winter.
